This summer has been hot!
Not just weather hot, but Wall Street hot as history-making mega-deals signal a new reality:
Where money flows, consultants grow.
Musky’s SpaceX (which is in my backyard-ish) raised well over $75B in new capital back in June. Then SK Hynix, a South Korean memory chip giant who supplies Nvidia, raked in over $26B a few weeks later.
It can feel like every big consultant and advisor is getting paid well, except the small firms.
Mega FOMO at this level is real and warranted.
There’s a lot of free-flowing capital upstream, despite a cooling job market downstream. What I see is the path to predictably win customers has shifted back to what is timeless:
Respect, positioning, and relationships.
If you’re focused on playing to win with any company throwing off $20M+ in revenue, then corn-hole marketing is how you play to lose. If you’re catering to companies under $10M, then with enough content and click-baitery you can do OK, I guess.
Moving on. . .
Every IPO opens up fresh money streams into the system and in some cases these opportunities are in a city near you.
Do you know where $75B, $26B, or even $300M in capital goes?
For many companies that capital now flows into system upgrades, talent acquisition, M&A, infrastructure build-out, R&D, sales, customer service, manufacturing, upskilling, and every inch of operations.
This is the sweet spot for consultants: Post-IPO work.
When the ticker tape parade ends and the relentless pursuit of increased earnings begins. This is where you can show up at the beginning of growth, not in the middle when every consultant and their AI-agent has a “solution.”
This is just one way you can shift from FOMO to NOMO:
No Opportunity Missed Out.
Show up when the money is fresh off the trees and hauled into the corporate office with a John Deere mega-tractor.
This requires resetting your efforts towards the priorities of your target market. With AI at your finger tips this research is literally less than 3 minutes away.
Just create a strategy to win those relationships.
If strategy and structure are not something you do well without guidance, I have one biased-recommendation. I wrote a guide about the two, and only two, customer strategies that in my humble and accurate opinion can show you how to remove tons of customer acquisition boulders, business blockages, and sales stress in one afternoon.
These two strategies are the fastest way I know to get consultants and advisors back in control of their business, sales, time, and future customer relationships.
